blazed and confused
I’m breaking out a Polaroid‚Ñ¢ tribute to the Portland Trailblazers; now 12-0 13-0 and tearing up the western conference (and seaboard) like Popeye on a spinach bender. This pic is circa spring ‘78, not sure what month. I didn’t pack a Moleskine Calendar when I was a kid. I was too preoccupied with hippos in the jungle or getting another ride on Magic Mountain. I’m rocking Disneyworld‚Ñ¢ in a classic red, white and black Portland Trailblazer mid-sleeve, with limited-edition shoulder racing stripes. Left coast; you know he we do it. Rip City.
But it doesn’t stop there; Take a peek at this classic title penned by the legendary Larry Colton. "Idol Time" chronicles Blazermania during the 1977/78 season. A signed, 1st edition published by the appropriately-named ‘Timber Press’ publishing house, it’s a thirty year-old masterpiece with the aromatic scent of finely aged-paper, and a robust thumb-thru feeling. I came across this book while perusing a nondescript bookstore in an undisclosed location. Whomever let this slip off their dusty bookshelf should be severely reprimanded. Stay tuned for some classic Blazer basketball cards once I dig them up from storage.
The Season of Festivus is almost upon us my friends! Break out the six foot aluminum pole and get ready to “air your grievances” with your family members and discuss all the ways in which they have disappointed you over the last year. And if you never saw “The Strike” episode of Seinfeld then you will be doubly chastised when we gather round the pole this year. A brief lo-down on the uber-holiday:
Celebrated: December 23.
Meal: Anything you want.
Events: “Airing of the Grievances”, followed
by the “Feats of Strength,” where the head of the household
tests his/her strength against a friend or another family member.
Tagline: A Festivus for the Rest of Us.
